Introducing ButylMAT Boat Sound Deadening. Our Newest Boat Soundproofing Development
When looking at other boat insulation suppliers and conducting our research for the launch of ButylMAT boat sound deadening into the marine market we believe we found a gap in the market for a sub 2mm thick soundproofing product which takes on the noise emited from diesel engines with ease. As many boats including narrowboats and barges have little space left around the engine bay for additional products which were initially left out of the design brief.
As some previously working narrowboats become conversions to liveaboards the noise from a boats diesel engine can be overpowering to say the least. This is where we believe ButylMAT can address some of the noise issues as it works incredibly effectively on premium automotive brands within the engine bay area. Automotive manufacturers concerns are weight of the vehicle due to export costs, performance of the vehicle due to MPG figures and cost of the overall solution. This is why they spend thousands creating an effective sound reduction package for the vehicles. As the overall solution is weight, cost and performance based they usually miss out on making vehicles as quiet as they could be by using a little more soundproofing insulation material. However they do fit a combination of sound deadening and acoustic absorption to save weight and generally newer vehicle models are always quieter than the last variant due to the level of testing and customer satisfaction requirements. After being part of this testing by designing and providing many acoustic insulation packages for vehicles including £million+ motor yachts, I decided to bring my 20+years expertise to the boat insulation market through development of new acoustic and thermal insulation products for boats and marine vessels.
One experience I will never forget is working on the acoustics for a private yacht manufacturer on the solent. The brief was to reduce the harshness of the engine whilst making the overall marine experience more refined for the potential owners. Using similar products to the ButylMAT we managed to transform the boating experience, I only wish I had access to tear resistant and UV Stable materials whilst I was developing this package of acoustic insulation materials for the motor yacht, similar to the vessel pictured below.

From the glamour of opening the throttle up linked to the twin diesel engines to the basics of acoustically insulating a vessel, I know that once you start upon your boat insulation journey you will be so impressed with the results you will find other areas of the marine vessel to work on to obtain that enhanced level of marine refinement aboard your vessel. It can be addictive hunting out noise paths and insulating against them safely.
This is where boat insulation is on hand to answer your acoustic technical questions and provide advice for hunting out noise paths in a cost effective manner to bring you £million acoustic refinement for a fraction of the cost with their range of boat soundproofing and marine insulation products.
